John Ratey, M.D.

Dr. John J. Ratey, M.D., is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and has a private practice in Cambridge, MA.  He earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and has done all of his graduate training at Harvard Medical School  Dr. Ratey is specifically interested in the impact of ADD on life issues such as relationships employment and personal fulfillment.  His other major research interest is the treatment of aggressive behaviors across a range of diagnoses.



Dr. Ratey has most recently authored the best selling book, A User’s Guide to the Brain: Perception, Attention and The Four Theaters of the Brain. He has also co-authored Driven to Distraction : Recognizing and Coping With Attention Deficit Disorder from Childhood Through Adulthood (1994) and Answers to Distraction (1995) with Edward Hallowell, M.D., and Shadow Syndromes (1997) with Catherine Johnson, PhD. Additionally, he has edited several books including The Neuropsychiatry of Personality Disorders (1994).
